But every Republican tried to vote it out.

The Week in Rap is on hiatus this week, but we hope you enjoy this story that CBS News put together a few weeks ago.
We’ll be back next week with a brand new installment.
November 21st, 2008 - The Week in Rap
Now this is dedicated to the victims,
Of the California wildfires and its um,
Difficult to fathom.
So many homes,
In Orange County, Sylmar, and Montecito - gone.
And put yo seatbelt on,
It’s Flocabulary warning you,
They’ve been burning down the rainforests of Borneo.
And you may think I’m kinda corny so,
Let’s talk about the [...]
November 14th, 2008 - The Week in Rap
There’s a lot of news this fall,
Flocab running through the first few that we saw.
Planet Earth’s residents expect,
A lot from the next US President elect.
Obviously over sovereignty and foreign policy,
Leaders are calling him to tell him how it ought to be.
And it’s hard when supremacists are plotting,
It’s sad [...]
November 7th, 2008 - Special Election Edition of the Week in Rap
America just shocked the globe,
Believed in a dream, you ba-rocked the vote.
Yes, U.S., you just did the impossible,
It’s unstoppable.
Obama, the White House resident,
He’s the 44th American President.
But he’s not the President yet,
He’s got to wait to January 20th,
Vacation? He’s not having it,
He’s like a [...]
October 31st, 2008 - The Week in Rap
The tension we’re kept in – the last days before the election -
So everybody vote, no exception.
Barack got a whole 30-minute TV show,
An infomercial he rehearsed for the people.
McCain and some others say it’s over the top,
But in a week we’ll see who voted or not.
And the polls show, [...]
October 25th, 2008 - The Week in Rap
My friend broke it down when he called me up,
Said “There’s a pirate showdown near Somalia.”
This ship got hijacked by these pirates,
They want 20 million bucks, and why’s that?
They think the ship they stole is like a bank,
Cha-ching, Cuz it’s carrying missiles and tanks.
Plus they got 20 hostages [...]
October 18th, 2008 - The Week in Rap
It was the final debate!
It was the final debate!
McCain came with lightning and some thunder,
But the real star? That was Joe the plumber.
A regular joe six pack who told Obama,
I don’t want to pay high taxes, can you fix that?
I worked hard my whole life, didn’t sit back,
Then [...]
October 10th, 2008 - The Week in Rap
A Debate,
Debate.
Delivered from the town hall,
The middle of a global economic downfall.
Where the polls say Barack got it with a clean sweep,
While McCain stays showing he’s holding a mean streak.
Like I’m this one,
And he’s that one.
And negative was the people’s reaction.
If we happened to notice the Dow Jones [...]
October 3rd, 2008 - The Week in Rap
Y’all act like you never seen a VP debate,
By the time they took the stage, people couldn’t even wait.
Joe Biden’s not dumb, I mean the dude can think,
But in the past, that man has said some stupid things.
Those things, I really wasn’t feeling them,
Like every 7-11 is probably [...]
September 26th, 2008 - The Week in Rap
In the middle of a 700 billion dollar rescue,
Neither party seems to agree what is the best move,
And its stressful.
Bush announces it’s the brink of collapse,
The economy is sinking, your tax
Is how they wanna save the day.
So McCain says – Hey!
Imma suspend my campaign, let’s wait,
And hold up [...]
September 19th, 2008. Petty politics, crashing markets and much more on this inaugural Week in Rap.
When you put lipstick on your pig,
does it look like a hockey mom,
the hot girl you want to ask to the prom,
does it look like a pit bull with glasses,
it looks like this campaign was distracted,
until Monday when Wall Street [...]

Mr. Obama got his stimulus passed
And you know they’re talking about a whole lot of cash
7-8-7 Billion to be exact
The satellites that crashed didn’t cost as much as that -
It’s still cold, like we haven’t had enough of snow
This is for the victims of the plane crash in Buffalo
Shoot - what can you do
I ain’t the kid from Kentucky [read: Kansas] you knew
The luckiest dude -
I mean he found an error out on the state test
Should he get an automatic A?
I say “Yes!”
It’s major!
Hillary Clinton went to Asia
North Korean nukes could equate to danger
But that scenario is the worst case
Can ya tell me why there’s nukes in the first place?
I’m saying though - it’s no joke
I don’t have dementia from second hand smoke
So I’m gonna take some time out
Just so I can tell ya
Peace if you’re running from a fire in Australia
You can feel me if you’re from California
Flames taking lives in the state of Victoria
But shall we come from the Down Under to Illinois
To see if the Senator there is still employed,
If the whole truth hasn’t risen to the surface
Some people say, please resign Mr. Burris
And here’s something phenomenal
Doctors could be close to a cure for the common cold
Meanwhile down in Venezuela
Chavez proved he’s a political player
His referendum passed yo
He could rule indefinitely like his boy Castro
I’m outta news this has been the week in rap so
In seven days Flocab’s coming back for you!
February 20th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
Hey! I’ve seen the week in rap in school on channel 1 so I wanted to look it up. This is soooo cool. This week my teacher sang along. He knew all the words cuz we are in 6th period so he’d been watching it all day. I’m gonna watch it every week!!!!
February 20th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
The channel one website is ok. However, I would prefer to see/listen to the week in rap here so that I can check out the lyrics and links to supporting websites.
Keep up the good work. I love the week in rap!

I embed your video into our classroom wiki, and I do not like that it forces us to Channel One. Channel One video is muddy.
February 21st, 2009 at 9:09 am
Love the videos, not as thrilled with the move to Channel One. I am sure there are reasons for the switch, as long as the videos keep flowing, alls good! Although it would be nice to get them without the lame Channel One intro!
February 21st, 2009 at 8:25 pm
I really love showing these videos to my World Studies classes - but I prefer this website over the Channel One format… Please keep it here if you can, and please keep those videos coming! My students BEG to see it every week, and it’s so relevant to the current events we discuss in class every day. Thank you!
February 22nd, 2009 at 11:01 am
Video quality on Channel One is not as good and is not as easily accessible to use. The students really enjoy the videos so we hope you keep them here on this site. We also copy the lyrics here and send them out to all the teachers so that they can review them and engage students in dialogue.
Keep them coming!
February 22nd, 2009 at 11:35 pm
Not happy about the move to Channel One. Our system will not allow me to play the week in rap, so I download it at home and take it in. Now, I can’t do that. Come on gang, please figure this out. I forgot to play it last week and the kids kept asking me. This is too good of a program not to work out the bugs.
February 22nd, 2009 at 11:41 pm
I like your videos but not on Channel One.It sounded better before. My class and teacher are always waiting for a new flocabulary, but me i just watch every new rap at my house. Please no more raps on Channel One,because they suck there!!!
February 23rd, 2009 at 8:39 am
My students love TWIR… but PLEASE bring back the feature that allows the videos to be downloaded and saved b/c I can’t stream it–even through Channel One–with all the firewalls on my school computer:-(

February 24th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Please let us choose whether or not we want to run the video through Channel One. The volume was maxed out today, and yet the students could barely hear it. I want to embed this on the school website, so please give the option of downloading and the code for embedding!
February 25th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Not crazy about Channel One… Before you allowed us to download the week’s rap and I need this option to be able to use it in my classroom because we are not able to stream video.
Thank you.
February 26th, 2009 at 9:45 am
My students are not crazy about the video being linked to Channel One’s website. The quality was to as good and they miss being able to look at the words after the video has played. Please bring the video back to this page.
Thank you.
February 26th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Love TWIR. My students are surprisingly interested in current events all the sudden. ChannelOne = not good. They’re site is down? My students are really hoping to hear you tomorrow. Hope the bugs get worked out.
February 27th, 2009 at 9:29 am
I like using TWIR with my Social Studies classes, but I didn’t like it on Channel One. The video is fuzzy and it is hard to hear. Please bring it back here.
Thanks!
February 27th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
My students love the week in rap. They ask for it all the time and it definitely relates to our social studies content.
However, Channel One makes the volume too low and the intro is lame. Please return the week in rap to its original location.
THANKS!
